NFL Week 5: Start and Sits
Welcome to the weekly NFL Fantasy Football Start and Sits for week five. This season has been full of surprises and disappointments, so this article will advise you on who to start and sit in your fantasy football lineups.
Start: C.J. Stroud-QB-Texans
Stroud has been out of this world so far during his rookie campaign, and he shows no signs of slowing down. This week he heads to Atlanta to face the Falcons, who have yet to be a competitive team thus far. If Stroud continues on this all-time pace, he should light up the scoreboard, making him the first start on the list.
Start-Nico Collins-WR-Texans
Collins has come virtually out of nowhere this season for the Texans being C.J. Stroud’s go-to guy. Both Collins and Stroud were likely to be available on waivers in some leagues and the stack between the two of them against the Falcons’ defense, could be a huge advantage this week. Especially with the return of some starting offensive linemen, the sky could be the limit for Collins, who was also been excellent after as of late. Collins is a must-start against the Falcons.
Start: Romeo Doubs-WR-Packers
Doubs has been one of the most underrated fantasy performers this season so far. With Jordan Love taking the reigns of the offense, Doubs has averaged 15 points per game and is not even on a roster in 60 percent of leagues. Against a pitiful-looking Raiders team, Doubs should be in for a very productive day, making him a start this weekend.
Start: Garrett Wilson-WR-Jets
Wilson’s fantasy owners have been trying to figure out what to do with him after the Rodgers injury. It may seem like a no-brainer to start last year’s offensive rookie of the year, but his situation is unpredictable. This week could be huge for Wilson and the whole Jets organization as they are set to take on the Denver Broncos. After coming off a week where the Bears, who looked like the worst team in football had a high-powered offense against the Broncos, Wilson should get back on track. This could be the game the Jets need to get everything right, and that starts with feeding Wilson the ball, making him a start this week.
Sit: Jahmyr Gibbs-RB-Lions
Fantasy owners are disappointed by the lack of usage Gibbs has had so it may be time to trade or bench him. David Montgomery had as many carries against the Packers last week as Gibbs has had all season. Gibbs simply is not being utilized enough, and while the matchup against a poor Panthers defense looks good, he will not see enough volume to succeed.
Sit: Tee Higgins-WR-Bengals
This sit is based on the condition that Higgins does play this weekend. Reports are saying he may play through a rib injury and that makes his outlook even worse. The Bengals offense this season has looked reminiscent of a pee-wee football team and cannot support any players in fantasy. While Ja’Marr Chase may get targets this week due to his comments to the media, Higgins is playing through injury and is the second option in a now unreliable offense. Against a Cardinals team that has surprised many he is a sit this week.
Sit-George Pickens-WR-Steelers
Pickens was getting hype from all over because of his draft day video and over-the-top aggressive style. After the preseason fantasy managers were looking to see big things from Pickens and his connection with Kenny Pickett. Unfortunately, the entire Steelers team has underwhelmed many with Pickett coming off an injury last week, and Matt Canada’s egregious play calling, Pickens needs to be sat this week.
This concludes the week five start and sits, best of luck to all teams this weekend!
