NFL Week 6: Starts and Sits

NFL Week 6: Starts and Sits

Welcome to the weekly NFL Fantasy Football Starts and Sits for Week Five. As we are approaching mid-season, we now have a better idea of who has been exceeding expectations and who have certainly done the opposite.

During week five, there were countless injuries, affecting fantasy teams across the US. The big one, of course, is Justin Jefferson who has just been put on IR with a hamstring injury. Now that many teams are missing a WR 1, they need to figure out who to put in their flex position. Other guys like James Conner, Devon Achane, Mike Williams, and even Anthony Richardson have also been placed on IR. This means that the waivers are active, and many new players will be in starting lineups.

Start: Kyren Williams RB-Rams

Through the first four weeks of the NFL season, Williams has played out of his mind. He came from out of nowhere and was producing more than RBs like Joe Mixon and Derrick Henry. Although he had a tough game against the Eagles last week, that should not discourage anyone from taking him out of their starting lineup. He should bounce back next week against the Cardinals who have not been able to stop the running game all season.

Start: Gabe Davis WR-Rams

From the start of the season, Davis has been slept on due to the fact that Stefon Diggs is the top receiver in Buffalo. This should not take away from the fact that Davis has been very consistent on the field having a touchdown every week besides week one. Davis should be a start at the flex position considering the matchup against the New York Giants whose secondary has been rocky to say the least thus far in the season.

Start: Adam Thielen WR-Panthers

Thielen could be arguably one of the biggest sleeper picks in fantasy football this year. He surely has WR 1 status in Carolina and has had seven receptions or more per game outside of week one. Thielen should be considered a must-start in most leagues considering the numbers he has put up so far despite the tough matchup.

Start: Isiah Pacheco RB-Chiefs

Pacheco has exceeded expectations this season grabbing the lead role in the Chiefs backfield. His yard production has certainly been there and he has been able to find the endzone in his last three games. He has averaged almost five yards per carry in the last four weeks and has a dream matchup against the Denver Broncos, who just let up 177 yards to Breece Hall. There is no reason you should have any thoughts of Pacheco being on your bench.

Sit: Dameon Pierce RB-Texans

Pierce has certainly been used in this Texans offense, however the results have not been there. He has averaged around nine fantasy points this season and has only one touchdown through week five. He has certainly had trouble finding the endzone up to this point. He does not have a great matchup this week against the Saints who have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to RBs this season. It would be a smart idea to keep Pierce on the bench for this week.

Sit: Courtland Sutton WR-Broncos

Despite solid performances in the first four weeks of football, Sutton was nearly non-existent last week against the Jets. The matchup this week does not look any better, going against the Chiefs at Arrowhead on Thursday night. Jerry Jeudy has looked like Russel Wilson’s go-to receiver the past couple of weeks and this will most likely stay the same on Thursday night.

Sit: Terry Mclaurin WR-Commanders

Scary Terry has not looked so scary this year, being held to less than 11 fantasy points in three of five games this season. Last week, Mclaurin and the rest of the Commanders’ offense looked flat against a Bears defense who has been non-existent up to last week. This week is a tough matchup against the Falcons whose secondary has allowed the fifth-fewest points to receivers this year. It would be smart to keep Mclaurin on the bench this week.

This concludes starts and sits for week 6 of the NFL season. Good luck to everybody!
