President Kruse Hints at Year For the Record Books

Student Council President George Kruse has gathered quite a bit of hype surrounding this upcoming school year. With all sorts of activities planned as the year progresses, there does not seem to be a blank space in his calendar.

President Kruse is highly optimistic in his quest to bounce back from the difficult school year that last year turned out to be. He hopes to bring the spirit of the Colt Crazies back into the hallways and in our arenas.

“We’ve got tailgates, tournaments, and maybe even a talent show coming up in just the first half of the year,” Kruse enthusiastically explained. With support from the student body and faculty, and people like Mrs. Szablewski by his side, he knows to which heights he can take The Academy.

The main goal of our president coming into this year is to make it one to remember. Although we aren’t completely set free from COVID-19 with the mask mandate still in play, it is just another obstacle to overcome.

“This is a unique opportunity,” Kruse explained, “There hasn’t really been such a tough year as the last one, so I am sitting here with the responsibility of getting the student body back on its feet.” After so many downfalls we experienced from the 2020 school year, the chance that has been awarded to bring normalcy back has never really been stowed upon the shoulders of our student government before.

This explains the excitement behind it. Now it’s time to blow the students of CBA away with a once-in-a-lifetime year we never thought we’d experience after COVID hit us.

Kruse acknowledged this will be his last year at CBA, which is one of the key reasons why he wants to make it one to remember, “Being a senior with only one year left, I just want to make the most of it with all the great friends I’ve made.”

One big goal he has in mind is to bring back the senior lounge, using Henderson Hall for it. Mrs. Szablewski is on board, and this would be one big way to start his campaign as a president. Being a senior myself, I am fully on board with this and hope this can be the first of many strikes.

There might be a sort of false narrative coming at Kruse. “Some people may have just voted for me because they knew who I was or thought my campaign was funny, but I do not intend to leave The Academy with that reputation.”

Kruse wants to be remembered for more than just a class clown. He intends to accomplish tasks with a lot of hard work, set traditions at CBA that will still be here twenty years down the road, when he may have his kid walking in as a freshman.

His priority is to be original and leave a lasting effect on CBA. Anyone can come up with a few tournaments to run or fundraisers that happen every year, but Kruse is thinking outside the box.

He hopes to use his creative mind and social characteristics to have a few ideas come to life and stay alive here. “I want my kid to walk in here as a freshman and think, ‘Wow, my dad came up with that and here I am doing it.”

As our president coming off a rundown, weird year, President Kruse has some big shoes to fill and a lot on his plate. But, he doesn’t have any intentions of letting this slow him down on his journey to bring CBA back to its original glory.
