Top 10 Anthems: Christmas Edition

It’s the time of year that all have been waiting for. Christmas is finally here. There are a plethora of Christmas songs to choose from.

Here’s my top ten:

 

10. Last Christmas (Wham, 1984)

Kicking off the list, Last Christmas is a joyous yet sad song for any listener. It tells the story of romance while also being in the Christmas season. It captures the 80’s sound, and it is a fine addition to any Christmas playlist.

 

9. Wonderful Christmastime (Paul McCartney and the Wings, 1979)

Coming from a member of the Beatles, Wonderful Christmastime provides a happy and memorable melody. Any person that wants to get into the spirit should listen to McCartney’s classic Christmas tune.

 

8. Feliz Navidad (José Feliciano, 1970)

In the bilingual hit, Felix Navidad is a mixture of guitar and horns, providing a joyous sound, making any listener happy. It is a radio hit, and anyone in need of Christmas cheer can play this.

 

7. O Christmas Tree (Tony Bennett, 2008)

In this specific version of O Christmas Tree, legendary vocalist Tony Bennett provides a calming and happy rendition. Even though it is not as widely known, this song is essential on any person’s playlist.

 

6. Jingle Bells (Frank Sinatra, 1957)

Jingle Bells, is arguably one of the most known Christmas songs to ever exist and it has many different versions. Frank Sinatra’s rendition shows off his voice while also being faithful to the original. 

 

5. Believe (Josh Groban, 2004)

Believe is featured in the holiday hit movie, The Polar Express. Almost any kid born in the 21st century knows this movie and song. Groban’s performance stands out with his phenomenal voice.

 

4. Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town – Live (Bruce Springsteen, 1975)

In the many versions of Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town, there are a few that stand out. Springsteen’s version has become a hit on the radio over the years, and with the mighty E Street band behind him, he has the perfect formula for a Christmas song.

 

3. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) (U2, 2004)

Christmas (Baby Please Come Home), is a rocking rendition of a classic by the iconic group, U2. Bono and the band put on a performance in this hit, and any person listening will certainly finish it smiling.

 

2. All I Want For Christmas Is You (Mariah Carey, 2011)

Even though it’s fairly new, All I Want For Christmas Is You, was an instant classic the second it was released. With the background chorus and the fantastic voice of Carey, this hit is a must to any Christmas playlist.

 

1. All Alone on Christmas (Darlene Love and the E Street Band, 1992)

Featured in Home Alone 2, All Alone on Christmas is simply a legendary tune. Even though it’s not as known as it should be, Darlene Love, with the E Street band to back her, provides a tune worth multiple listens. This song defines the Christmas genre and makes number one on the list.
