Top Ten Anthems: Elvis Presley
Arguably music’s greatest tragedy.
1977.
The King died at age 42.
Elvis Presley was easily the greatest rock ‘n’ roll singer of all time, inspiring generations to come. With countless hits in his repertoire, here was the virtually impossible to make, top ten Elvis songs:
10.“Viva Las Vegas” (Elvis’ Gold Records Volume 4, 1968)
When one thinks of The King, a place comes to mind: Las Vegas. “Viva Las Vegas” is a fun ride that transports you to Vegas, in the famous International Hotel, where Elvis had his infamous residency.
9.“All Shook Up” (Loving You, 1957)
A calming and catchy tune, “All Shook Up” still holds up today, and is a must add to any Elvis playlist. The guitar, the vocals and the sound was truly ahead of its time.
8.“Memories” (Elvis, 1968)
“Memories” is the type of song that you can listen to over and over again and never get tired of it. Being such a calming tune, it brings any listener back to the time where music was truly born: the 60s.
7.“Heartbreak Hotel” (Heartbreak Hotel, 1956)
Being one of Elvis’ first recorded songs, “Heartbreak Hotel” is what every song wants to be. It’s catchy, calming yet exciting, and really shows off the range the King had.

Like many of Elvis’ hits, “Hound Dog” is an almighty cover. The song is extremely recognizable, and is a hit whenever it is played.

My personal favorite, “Jailhouse Rock” is a very catchy and well performed tune. Any fan of the rock genre must add this song to their playlist immediately.
4.“Blue Suede Shoes” (Blue Suede Shoes, 1956)
One of the King’s very first hits. “Blue Suede Shoes” is a fast paced, ahead of its time rock ‘n’ roll piece of heaven. From the dance moves that go with it to the fantastic guitar playing, it is truly a perfect song.
3.“Can’t Help Falling In Love” (Blue Hawaii, 1961)
The classic love song. “Can’t Help Falling In Love” is a timeless love tune, and it is arguably Elvis’ best work. It is simply a perfect song from start to finish, and is perfect for any playlist.
2.“Suspicious Minds” (From Elvis in Memphis, 1969)
“Suspicious Minds” is arguably the most iconic Elvis song. It is so recognizable that when one hears it, they can sing at least the first verse. Yet another phenomenal song in Elvis’ catalog.
1.“Burning Love” (Burning Love and Hits From His Movies, 1972)
It’s simple. “Burning Love” is Elvis and Elvis is “Burning Love”. The most iconic Elvis song all time, the catchiest, the most nostalgic, and it’s the greatest song the King ever performed. It’s one of the greatest rock songs of all time and it tops the list of Elvis’ greatest hits.
Honorable Mentions:
- “A Little Less Conversation”
