Week 8 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em
With week seven in the books and week eight starting up, some key players will help or hurt your fantasy team. Players have risen above all and some have fallen behind. Some dark horses have a chance to shine and some stand-out players might fall off. We will cover which players are rising or falling, and who you should start or sit for week eight of fantasy football.
Players to start in Week 8:
Javonte Williams RB, Broncos
Williams is coming off a strong week which was one of the best of his career, rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns in 14 carries and three receptions for 23 yards. Williams and the Broncos will be facing the worst run defense in the league in the Carolina Panthers. This season the Panthers have been torched by the run game. They have allowed the most points to running backs by a very large margin. This week we believe Williams will be continuously fed by the Broncos’ offense and will have a great game against the Panthers.
J.K. Dobbins RB, Chargers
Dobbins throughout this season has been inconsistent, producing over 18 points in three weeks and under 10 in the three other weeks. However, you should start Dobbins who will be facing the Saints who have struggled against the run game this season, which was very visible last week. This is the perfect opportunity for the Chargers to get ahead and lean on Dobbins and their run game.
George Pickens WR, Steelers
Although it’s been one week, the Steelers offense and Pickens numbers have improved significantly with Russell Wilson under center. Pickens had his best week with 111 yards and a touchdown. Wilson and Pickens connected very well with big plays, making connections on 20 and 40-yard passes. Pickens has big play abilities which is perfect with Wilson who isn’t afraid to throw the deep ball.
Players to sit in Week 8:
Patrick Mahomes QB, Chiefs
If it wasn’t for the name, this QB would be on waivers. Mahomes has not had a single week with more than 16 fantasy points. Through his last two weeks, he has not thrown a touchdown. His TD-to-INT ratio is 6:8 this season as well. Throughout his career, Mahomes has been on and off against the Raiders, getting shut down by their tough defense last year. With all of this, Mahomes is a must-sit for week 8.
Alexander Mattison RB, Raiders
Mattison has been on and off this season. Mattison had his best two games in the last two weeks with 15 and 17 fantasy points. However, Mattison and the Raiders will be facing one of the strongest run defenses in the league in the Chiefs. The Chiefs have allowed the fewest points to RBs this season and have not had an RB to get over 100 yards against their defense.
Sam LaPorta TE, Lions
The Lions will have to face the Titans who have allowed the second fewest fantasy points per game this season to tight ends. LaPorta has been anything but productive this season, averaging an abysmal 7.8 points a game. LaPorta has also yet to catch four passes in a game in 2024 and has seen a 10.1% target share on the season. LaPorta should be a no-brainer to sit this week.
