Winter Athlete Spotlight: Vincent Fasano
Vincent Fasano has learned pretty quickly what it means to be a CBA bowler. Now the senior captain of the team, he looks to capitalize in a year with more competition and excitement following the limited season in 2020-2021.
Starting bowling his junior year, Fasano found another niche at the Academy that sparked an interest he knew he had all along.
“I have always loved bowling since a young age,” Fasano said. “So this was an opportunity to play another sport I loved and wanted to get better at.”
Talking about his first year on the team, Fasano explains that he learned a lot from watching the seniors last year play even though it wasn’t a traditional bowling year. Being the only junior on the team, Fasano said he learned even more about the sport and how to play the game competitively in a whole new way.
“I learned about staying consistent, keeping focus, and stepping up to help the team win,” Fasano said.
Transitioning to his second and final year bowling for CBA, Fasano, the only member from the class of ’22, knew he needed to step up and be a role model for the underclassman. Learning lessons from previous captains Collin White and Robert Folgore, Fasano is excited to lead a special season for the Colts as they get ready to compete.
“The chance at a regular season got me hyped, which drove me to practice more and want to win this season,” Fasano said. “I knew we would still be facing some difficulties with COVID restrictions, but nothing that I couldn’t get through.”
Coach Patrick Reynolds has been a huge help for Fasano and his transition from his first season as a CBA bowler to his last.
“I don’t know where I would be without him helping me bowl,” Fasano would go on to say as he feels extremely lucky for the guidance along the way. Using what his coach has taught him, Fasano plans to help guide the underclassman to a successful year and work on developing their skills for the future so they, too, can do the same for future bowling Colts.
Looking at his last season, Fasano said he has an “extra drive” inside him to leave everything in the bowling alley this winter. The goal is to win as much as possible and always to have some fun along the way.
One goal he has for himself this season as he competes against other high schools is to break his personal high score, 219, this winter. As captain, he wants to lead his fellow teammates to win as much as possible. A team goal would be to break a 700 team series score.
Raising his game to the next level, Fasano is excited and ready for another winter season. Keep an eye out for Fasano and the bowling team this year as they gear up for a year full of strikes, spares, and cheers at Harmony Bowl.
