Winter Honors: Blasucci Sets New CBA Shot Put Record, Helps CBA Win State Title

When an athlete breaks a longstanding school record, it usually means good things for that season.

Marcus Blasucci ‘25 made history this winter by breaking CBA’s shot put record by throwing 65′ 2.25″ in the Shore Conference Championship. This record-breaking throw by Blasucci also put him third nationally for Class of 2025 seniors.

For his terrific indoor season, Blasucci is the CBA Digital Network’s Player of the Season for Indoor Track & Field.

“[The record] means adding onto the already extensive legacy of CBA Track, and I am very honored to leave my mark among such talented athletes,” Blasucci said about what the feat means to him.

Of course, Blasucci explained that breaking a school record was not something he focused on at first.

“In the beginning of the season, my coaches told me that I had the ability to break the record,” he explained. “Their confidence in me gave me the determination I needed to take on the challenge.”

Blasucci’s winter success did not stop with breaking the record and winning the shot put at the Shore Conference. He also threw a 60’9” at the 2025 Non-Public A State Championship, earning him second place and helping CBA win the overall state title.

“The entire track and field team has been incredibly supportive to me,” he said. “Having the team cheering for me at the Shore Conference is why I was able to break the record and why it is the best moment of my athletic career. The team support we have is the reason we took home the state championship title.”

The Columbia University-bound thrower also was a winner at the Monmouth County Championship, contributing to another county team title as well.

This season was not always easy for Blasucci, as he had his share of tough moments.

“After a strong start to the season, I tripled fouled at state relays and nearly cost the team the meet,” he explained. “I was humbled, realized victory is never a guarantee, and that I could not ease up on my training.”

His determination clearly paid off during the stretch run of the season. He knows that being recognized for his success is a testament to his teammates and coaches as well.

“I am beyond proud and humbled to be recognized for this award. This achievement says to me that I am a leader on the team,” Blasucci said.

Blasucci will return to the field in just a few weeks for the outdoor track & field season.
