Refreshing change of pace during Enrichment
Enrichment Period at CBA provides a refreshing break in a student’s schedule and allows him to join different clubs and activities.
Every student gets this “break” on Wednesday from 8:20 a.m. to 9:10 a.m. This time period serves as a great way to meet other students, while participating in unique and engaging activities. Others choose to use the Enrichment Period to get ahead on their homework, study for an upcoming test, or go see their teachers for extra help.
Something that makes CBA unique is the fact that the Academy has over 45 clubs to choose from and they are open to all students in all grades. Enrichment is a great way to explore clubs outside of their required academic rigors.
For example, if a student enjoys Scrabble, there is a club for that. Some students are just learning to play and others consider themselves “masters.” In addition to playing games of Scrabble, the club also runs tournaments. In fact, Scrabble Club is such a popular choice that it has needed two classrooms to accommodate all of the students during Enrichment.
Academy men are known for their volunteerism, and Enrichment also allows students to continue to give back. A great example of this is Project Grove, where students grow vegetables and donate them to Lunch Break in Red Bank. During any given Enrichment Period, these students are out in the courtyard tending to their garden.
And while Enrichment is primarily for extracurricular activities, the time is also an excellent way to get extra help in a subject that a student might be struggling in. Every subject has a dedicated classroom and department teacher ready to answer questions or review something that might be a little confusing. In addition to extra help, academic clubs – such as the math and science teams – are planning their competitive schedules and refining their skills during Enrichment.
