What You Need to Know Before Netflix’s Arcane Arrives
The long-awaited Netflix series “Arcane” has its release date, and fans of the popular game “League of Legends” couldn’t be happier.
The series stars Hailee Steinfeld as “Vi,” Ella Purnell as “Jinx,” Katie Leung as “Caitlyn,” and Kevin Alejandro as “Jayce.”
Steinfeld being named as Vi came as a surprise to many fans, but most reactions were favorable to the casting. The rest of the cast, being regular voice actors, was also very well received.
The series is hoping to develop the lore of its various characters further. The plot has not been released yet, but from watching the trailer, many are predicting that it will be about Vi and Jinx’s sisterly relationship and the political climate existing between Zaun and Piltover (the twin cities).
According to the lore, Piltover is a technologically advanced city. While trying to create a dam, it failed, causing the creation of Zaun. Zaun exists literally underneath Piltover, symbolizing the distinction of the wealthy upper class and the poor lower class.
Conditions in Zaun are poor, the air is toxic, while in Piltover, they enjoy technological advancements that allow them to live luxurious lives.
The story will likely follow Jinx’s descent into madness and how Vi went from a Zaunite (someone from Zaun) orphan to Piltover’s feared enforcer.
Be sure to catch Arcane on Netflix starting on November 6th.
